New 40 mph speed limits set to come into force at Croft

NEW 40 mph speed limits are set to come into force on three stretches of road at Croft, Warrington.

Following a request to review the speed limits within the Croft area it was identified that in the main existing speed limits are correct with a clear transition for rural to urban stepping down from 40mph to 20mph in the residential streets.

Three sections of highway were noted as retaining historical derestricted speed limits with assessments identifying mean and average speeds that would allow for this to be reduced to 40mph and be in keeping with the similar roads in the area.
This would comply with the Circular 01/13 on setting local speed limits and the existing 85th percentile speeds would also be within tolerance for the Police as set by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).
As a result of the review, the proposal for Croft is to revise the speed limits as follows;

Restriction of Presently Derestricted Sections of Roads;
Glaziers Lane
For its full length.
Cross Lane
From its junction with A574 Warrington Road to Approx. 330m West of same.
Mill House Lane
From approx. 178m North of Lords Lane to 360m East of Smithy Lane, Croft.

The introduction of a new 40mph speed limit to the extents of;
Glaziers Lane
For its full length.
Cross Lane
From its junction with A574 Warrington Road to Approx. 330m West of same.
Mill House Lane
From approx. 178m North of Lords Lane to 360m East of Smithy Lane, Croft
