Seven-storey block will provide 26 apartments

PLANS for a seven-storey block of 26 apartments in Winwick Street, Warrington, have been given the go-ahead by the borough coiuncil’s development management committee.

It is the second time the scheme has been approved – the first being in 2022.
Discussions have been ongoing since then over a Section 106 agreement between the council and the applicant and the new approval is also subject to the agreement being reached.
The proposals also include a commercial development on the ground floor and an amenity garden.

Councillors approved the development after hearing a planning officer’s report which indicated the development was of acceptable design and would provide 26 dwellings, 10 per cent of which would
be affordable homes.
The scheme would provide an acceptable standard of living for future residents and would not have any unacceptable impact on the living conditions of existing residents of the area.
The Section 106 agreement would secure a contribution of £7,800 from the developer towards the cost of the Town Centre Travel Plan
