WARRINGTON Town FC welcomed a very special guest as the club hosted a junior Christmas party for the young players within the Junior Wire section.
The under 7’s, 8’s and 9’s teams all came together to celebrate Christmas at Cantilever Park as nearly 100 junior footballers attended the event with brothers and sisters also invited to join the fun.
Party games were played while a face painter was also on hand to brighten up the youngsters.
Special guest Father Christmas was in attendance to give out some special presents to the stars of the future. Each child received a goodie bag containing a selection box, water bottle donated by United Utilities, pen and pencil for school and a limited edition Warrington Town scarf.
Warrington Town FC’s community development officer James Standing said “The event was a great success with everyone getting involved in the fun. It was great of Santa to take time out and drop in to visit the club. The children were very surprised.”
This is the first time the senior club have done an event like this with the club’s directors and junior managers helping out on the night.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the directors and the juniors especially Paul Anderson and Tim Hardman. Some of the first team lads came in to say hello to the kids and they were made up.”
The club’s catering partner, the Crazy Hog Catering Company, who provided the food, also donated a 5000kg tub of sweets for the children to share and take home.
Club Chairman Gary Skentelbery said: “This was a fantastic event which showed the true spirit of Christmas. Congratulations to James on organising it and we mustn’t forget to say a big thank you to Santa, who had a passing resemblance to our kit man and first team coach Rick Ward.”
