Thousands flock to Stockton Heath Festival 2024

THIS year’s Stockton Heath Festival attracted thousands of visitors over the extended weekend 4th to 7th July.

Festival-goers experienced more than 40 events covering art, culture and heritage, within venues in and around the Stockton Heath village. Despite weather reports varying from torrential rain to thunderstorms, the sun shone on a crowded festival field during the weekend.

This year festival organisers introduced new activities to appeal to a broad range of interests and ages. Local bands the Fleegles and the Bemonts featured at the Rock Night, a Family Heritage Trail encouraged people to find a secret message* hidden in shop windows and discover artefacts kindly supplied by Warrington Museum, drawing workshops plus artists in residence visited the Art Exhibition, and local history and heritage spanning Roman beginnings to Victorian times were brought to life through walks and talks.

Thank you to Rev’d Michael and St Thomas’ Church for hosting the exhibition. Congratulations to the judge’s overall Winner John Spanton (pictured above)for “The Ridgeway, Frodsham”, and Runner Up Eddie Platt for “Waterfall”.

Highly Commended were Lemon Studio ceramics of Stockton Heath, “Bottles” by Jacqueline Starkey, and “Not all Black and White” by Ruth Carter.
Well done to David Percival for attracting the highest number of public votes to win the Tudor Pole Award for “Salvation”.
Thanks to all artists for showcasing their work. The quality was “particularly high” with many “exceptional” pieces of work, reflected in the number of pieces sold at the exhibition.

Community spirit

The Stockton Heath Festival organisers would like to thank local businesses, sponsors and supporters, and volunteers for contributing to the festival’s success.
