TACKLING machine Luke Yates has joined Warrington Wolves with immediate effect on loan from Huddersfield Giants.

The club announced in May that the forward had signed a two-year contract ahead of the 2025 season, but he will now join the Wire for the remainder of this season and beyond.

Yates will join up with his new teammates tomorrow [Tuesday] and will be eligible to make his debut in Friday’s huge Betfred Super League away fixture against our local rivals St Helens.
He will wear the number 41 shirt and be proudly sponsored by Warrington Travel.

The 29-year-old is a tackling machine and led the competition for most tackles last season, completing 1,027 at an average of 42 per game. This season he made a staggering 61 tackles in the Giants’ Super League match against St Helens.
He brings experience and leadership to our pack, having captained Huddersfield for the last three seasons.
Luke Yates said: “I’m really excited for the challenge. The opportunity came up to head over to Warrington early and I want to play my part now in contributing to what can hopefully be a successful end to the season for the club.
“To have the opportunity to work with and learn from Sam [Burgess] is massive for me.
“There’s a great roster here and I’m excited now to get amongst it and pull on the Warrington jersey.”
Warrington Wolves Director of Rugby Gary Chambers added: “I want to thank both sets of Directors from the two clubs for facilitating Luke’s early release to Warrington. He will be an important player for us for the rest of this season and going forward.”
