Dental Care Practice found to be safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led

A private dental care practice at Culcheth, Warrington, has been described as “safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.”

The findings were made following a recent assessment by the Care Quality Commission which visited Bhawani’s Dental Care provided and run Dr Santanu Chatterjee on Common Lane, Culcheth.

Inspectors from the CQC carried out this on-site announced assessment on 26 June 2024. they found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment were provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect.
At the time of their assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The practice provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of the assessment, the dental team included 1 dentist, 2 dental nurses, and a dental therapist. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment they spoke with 1 dentist, 2 dental nurses and the dental therapist.

People’s experience of this service
Prior to the assessment, the CQC asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with them. Comments included: “Superb practice. Highly skilled. Pleasant, polite, and professional” On the day of the visit, inspectors received feedback from three patients. Their responses and additional patient feedback reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. Inspectors were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
