Whilst Bents Garden & Home’s Charity of the Year initiative is its main focus for fundraising, the family owned centre is keen to support as many local causes as possible.
On Saturday 13th July, Bents’ managing director, Matthew Bent will climb the 170ft tower at Trafford Palazzo, not for the beautiful views of the Manchester cityscape, but to complete a charity abseil in aid of Warrington Youth Zone.
Located in the town centre, the Warrington Youth Zone provides young people with a wide range of programmes and opportunities to gain and develop life skills, designed to help them make positive and healthy life choices. Having visited recently, to officially open Bents’ newly donated ‘Tiki Bar’, Matthew was invited to take part in the charity abseil and help raise funds for this fantastic local facility.
Bents continues to stay active for charity later in the month when colleagues including Matthew and his sisters Helen and Katherine Bent will join Kate Ebbens, garden plant pot specialists for Capi-Europe for her daily 5km run for Greenfingers Charity.
Kate has already raised £12,700 for this fantastic charity which creates magical gardens in children’s hospices across the UK, by running 5km every day this year. She has reached out to garden centres throughout the country with a request to sponsor each month of the year. Bents is sponsoring her for July and will join her for her daily 5K run on the 23rd of July
These latest charity initiatives are in addition to fundraising for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) which is Bents’ 2024 charity of the year.
Matthew Bent said: “Whilst our main fundraising focus is always our charity of the year, we will always get involved with other opportunities whenever we can. These latest challenges are both for charities whose main aim, like CAFT, is to help improve the lives of children, something which we feel very strongly about so had no hesitation in agreeing to sign up.”
