Table-topping Warrington’s march for league title continues

TABLE-topping Warrington’s march to claim the Cheshire Cricket League title continued with a 55-run victory at Old Parkonians.

Losing the toss and asked to bat first they were bowled out for a modest 126, Ashley Scholes top-scoring with 42.
It was not a total that inspired much confidence but the home side struggled for runs from the outset with only one batsman reaching double figures.
Scholes took 3-16 and E Peddi 3-11 as Parkonians were rolled over for 71.
In the Cheshire County League, Grappenhall travelled to Hyde where they suffered a 149-run defeat.
Winning the toss, they asked the home side to bat first – and then saw them rack up 260-4 in 49 overs.
Grappers’ bowlers toiled in vain with Adam Roylance, with 2-51, the most successful.
Runs proved hard to get when Grappenhall batted. Most of the batsman got started but then fell without building a match-winning innings. Top score was wicket-keeper Teix Balingbroke with 22.
Skipper Ben Bodha dug in for a lengthy, unbeaten 15 but the side were all out for 111 in the 38th over.
Lymm Oughtrington Park won by 26 runs at Westminster Park after hitting 141-7. Skipper Shovan Chatterjee top-scored with 33.
The home side could only muster 115, wih Antonnel Atwell taking 5-28.
Appleton went down by 28 runs at Trafford Metrovics.
Batting first, the home side hit 169-9 and Appleton could only reach 141.
Glazebury, asked to b at first at home to Heaton Mersey Village, were all out for 140. Ben Marota top-scored with 62.
Marota and veteran Simon Green took two wickets each but the visitors reached their target for the loss of seven wickets.
Other matches:
Grappenhall 2nd beat Alvanley by five wickets, Russell Walker hitting 32.
Appleton 2nd beat Maritime by one wicket.
Appleton 3rd lost by five wickets at Cheadle Hulme.
Warrington 3rd beat Oxton by 50 runs, Farhad Qayum hitting 59.
Glazebury 2nd lost by five wickets at Mellor.
