THE Bears Paw in High Legh was runner-up and “highly commended” in a top national competition for the “best dining experience.”

Head chef Jason Craig and his wife Mel were delighted when they received an email informing them they had been shortlisted for the finals of the English Hospitality Awards.
But they were stunned when they learned that they had come runners-up and been highly commended in the “best dining experience” category.
It shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise as, over the years, the Bears Paw has had countless positive reviews on Tripadviser – it was certainly no surprise to their customers.

But Jason said: “When we first saw the email we didn’t think too much of it, we thought it could be a hoax so didn’t want to make too much of a fuss.
“We are so flattered and so pleased. We are not sure who nominated us but we’re so grateful for the recognition.”
“We are very lucky to have an amazing team of staff and this recognition is as much theirs as ours.”

A spokesperson for the English Hospitality Awards 2024 said: “We’re proud to get to showcase the remarkable talent and exceptional standards within England’s vibrant hospitality industry.
“The finalists have consistently demonstrated excellence, innovation, and dedication in their respective categories, setting the benchmark for quality and service within the English hospitality industry.
“We want to congratulate all of our winners and highly commended recipients on their accomplishments.”
