More road works scheduled for historic Grappenhall village

MORE Heritage area road works are set to take place in historic Grappenhall village next month (August) for up to four weeks.

The work involves relaying the cobbled road surface on Church Lane, including work to improve drainage and is set to start on August 5.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Church Lane from its junction with Broad Lane to its junction with Glebe Avenue.

The Order will be effective from 5th August 2024 for 4 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Church Lane, A56 Chester Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa or via Broad Lane, Grappenhall Lane, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa.
The restrictions are required to allow continuing works to Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.

The road was closed for six weeks last year for similar works.
