WARRINGTON Conservatives Federation has unveiled its candidate for Warrington North for the forthcoming General Election on July 4.
Yasmin Al-Atroshi will be the Conservative Party candidate. Yasmin’s campaign is grounded in her profound commitment to public service, her extensive experience in the healthcare industry, and her passion for improving the lives of her constituents and the broader UK population.
Yasmin said:“I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the General Election on 4th July.”
“I’d like to use my experience of working within the NHS to help drive healthcare reform in Warrington and improve NHS services locally. Residents have told me about their struggles in getting access to healthcare, that is why I will campaign for Warrington to get its own walk-in centre so more residents can access care when they need it.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, I demonstrated my unwavering dedication by working on the frontlines as a Foundation Pharmacist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. I worked in hospital Pharmacies, Community Pharmacies and specialist clinics, putting my life on the line to serve the public during the pandemic. I chose to stay on duty, taking on overtime and extra shifts to support my team and patients during these challenging times.
“I noticed numerous inefficiencies in the NHS and decided to take action. I transitioned into project management to address these issues and earned my PRINCE2 qualification. One of my first projects involved reducing prescription waiting times in the hospital by streamlining processes in the dispensary. Patients shouldn’t have to wait long for their prescriptions when they are discharged from the hospital; they just want to go home and rest.
“The biggest project in my career was a £100 million merger between two NHS hospitals, where I played a pivotal role as the Integration and Transformation Manager to deliver a new and improved hospital. Beyond my NHS contributions, I have worked as a global consultant, leading multiple projects to support business growth and transformation.
“I decided to enter politics to reform and fix the NHS. The current top-down policy approach limits meaningful change and I believe that legislative reform is essential. With a master’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Hertfordshire, where I specialised in Pharmacy Law and reviewed legislation around Controlled Drugs in the UK and abroad, I bring a unique perspective to this challenge. My frontline experience, expertise in delivering change projects, and background in healthcare law uniquely equip me to make a significant difference in our NHS.
“My plan for Warrington North, is focused on placing residents and their priorities first. That is why we need to stop the boats and end the asylum dispersal scheme in Warrington North as they have played their part. I will protect our greenbelt from Labour’s plan to concrete over it. I will campaign for a new walk-in centre so residents can access care when they need it. I will back local businesses who are the backbone of our society. I will work with local and national police bosses to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour and I will end the war on motorists by making sure LTNs have local approval.”
