WARRINGTON Wolves have announced their strongest 21-man squad after being given a rousing send-off by the primrose and blue barmy army outside the Halliwell Jones Stadium this morning.

As expected, Head Coach, Sam Burgess, who looked relaxed signing autographs and taking “selfies” with fans, has named his strongest available squad, after resting many of his star players in last weekend’s, narrow 18-19 defeat to Saturday’s opponents, arch-rivals, Wigan Warriors.

While the Wolves lost like weekend after racing into a 12-0 lead, many in the game saw it as a morale victory, going down by the odd point to a much more experienced Wigan team.

Wolves’ forward Jordy Crowther, who has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury, returns for the Wembley showdown, with the Wolves taking down their largest Wembley following in recent years, with more than 12,000 tickets sold.

But they will be without prop Joe Philbin (adductor muscle) while Leon Hayes (ankle), Luke Thomas (ACL) and Wesley Bruines (hamstring) are all long-term absentees.

The match on Saturday will now kick off at 3:07 pm as a tribute to the late Rob Burrow who sadly died aged just 41 from motor neurone disease.

Messages of support have been coming in from far and wide for the Wire, including from Warrington’s teenage dart sensation Luke Littler who will be watching the game from sunny Florida!
