AS the Rugby League community united to pay tribute to Rugby League legend Rob Burrow who has sadly died aged 41 from motor neurone disease a Warrington couple are travelling to Headingly this evening to pay their own respects.

Before heading off Warrington Wolves’ fans Roxy and Rob Jones will be at the Halliwell Jones Stadium from 4 pm to 5.30 pm today (Monday) and have offered to take flowers and tributes from other Wire fans to show the support of the Rugby League family.

Roxy said: “After collecting flowers and tributes to Rob Burrow we will then be driving to Headingly Stadium with all the flowers people have brought and placing them on the memorial they have at the south stand at Headingly and showing our respects to a Rugby League legend.
“If people would like to drop flowers off please feel free to do so we are more than happy to take them for people.”

Rob Burrow died at the age of 41. The Leeds Rhinos legend was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019, two years after retiring from playing. He won eight Super League titles and two Challenge Cup trophies with Leeds during his 17-year career; he also played for England and Great Britain.
After being diagnosed with the illness, he dedicated himself to raising awareness and funds for the MND community with the support of close friend and former Leeds team-mate Kevin Sinfield.
In an emotional tribute to his friend, Sinfield described the news as “the day that I hoped would never come”.

In a statement, he said: “I would always say that you were pound for pound the toughest player I ever played alongside, however since your diagnosis you were the toughest and bravest man I have ever met.”
