YOUNG people in Warrington will gather to watch a variety of science experiments including converting liquid nitrogen into ice cream.
The Discovery Scholarship Warrington will be launched by the Mayor on Tuesday with an exciting event at Daresbury Laboratory for 55 Year 9 pupils from across the town.
A range of activities are planned including a science demonstration by the lab and a hands-on engineering activity and competition. There will also be a talk from Alan Brown, education and public programmes officer at the laboratory.
The event is the first in a series aimed at giving students in Year 9 the unique opportunity to discover the future of science and engineering.
Warrington Borough Council has developed the scholarship with local schools and colleges and business partners.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, Warrington Borough Council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “This exciting event is the start of a series of great opportunities for the young people involved in the scholarship to learn about careers in science and engineering – a sector that will be at the forefront of future jobs.”
