A UNIQUE “shop front” has opened in Warrington aimed at recruiting new people as prospective adopters.
Adoption Matters North West has formed a partnership with Golden Square shopping centre to promote its work. The new shop, designed to look like a child’s bedroom, was launched as part of National Adoption Week which runs until Sunday.
Adoption Matters North West helps find new families for children across the region. It aims to highlight the high numbers of children still in care and to inspire shoppers to think about how they could make a difference.
Its chief executive Norman Goodwin said: “The numbers of children still in care in the North West are startling. Not only are there over 414 children still waiting in care but 39 per cent of these children have sadly been waiting longer than a year to find a new family.
“We want more people to think about whether they could make a commitment to change a child’s life, and by launching this campaign during National Adoption Week there is no better time for people to think about how they can make a difference.”
