Police clampdown on inconsiderate and dangerous parking at Bewsey

2

POLICE have clamped down on inconsiderate parking in the Bewsey area of Warrington following concerns raised by local residents.

Two fixed penalty notices were issued on Hoyle Street and a further one on Bewsey Road. All three vehicles were blocking the pavement for pedestrians which is completely unacceptable.

Local officers will continue to issue notices to vehicles where the standard of parking is causing pedestrians to be put in danger.

The online Residents Voice survey can be used to let police know of any other areas where there is an issue.

Meanwhile, Warrington residents can now report public illegal parking problems online after a trial project was given the green light to be rolled out across Cheshire.

Operation Park Safe is a project which allows members of the public to report parking issues online through the Cheshire Police website.
As part of the scheme, residents can upload videos and photographs of offending vehicles to the website where they will be assessed by an experienced traffic officer, who will triage and deal with any dangerous parking offences.
Any minor traffic obstructions or community impact issues will be allocated to the local PCSO or Beat officers to deal with in an appropriate manner.

  1. It’s a growing problem across the country and isn’t helped by some of the ludicrous housing planning applications passed by WBC. Never adequate provision for residents parking. Vehicles get bigger with each new model yet parking spaces are the same size they were many years ago and car park layouts are totally inadequate and all need to have the bays lined diagonally to allow easier access and egress.

  2. WBC approved a multi-storey development in Latchford, built very adjacent to a well known traffic congestion spot – the swing bridge, stating parking provision on the development was “almost compliant.”
