Winwick Road closed and air ambulance attends as motorcylist receives potentially life-changing injuries

WINWICK Road was closed and the air ambulance attended as a motorcyclist received potentially life-changing injuries in the first of two collisions involving motorcycles.

The first collision involved a silver Skoda Superb and a black Indian Scout Bobber motorcycle and involved a road closure as emergency services including the air ambulance attended the scene.

A second incident followed around an hour later involving a blue Mercedes C 220 and a clue Yamaha XRS motorcycle.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Shortly after 4 pm on Wednesday 31 January police were called to reports of a collision on the A49, Winwick Road, near Pentagon Ford.
Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a silver Skoda Superb and a black Indian Scout Bobber motorcycle.
Air ambulance attended the scene, and the rider of the bike was taken to Aintree Hospital. His injuries are believed to be potentially life-changing. The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed while officers dealt with the incident. The scene was cleared shortly after 6 pm.
No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing, anyone with any information or video footage is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML 1746672.

Commenting on the second collision on Winwick Road the spokesperson added: “At 5 pm on Wednesday 31 January police were called to a collision on the A49, Winwick Road, near to the Cromwell Road roundabout.
Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a blue Mercedes C 220 and a clue Yamaha XRS motorcycle.
The rider of the bike was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, although there are not believed to be any serious injuries.
“The scene was cleared at around 6.45 pm.”
