POLICE have issued further warnings following six incidents of courier fraud across Warrington involving bogus officers contacting elderly people and convincing them to hand over large sums of money.

The age range of victims is people in their 70s to 80s.

Appleton police are investigating an incident where elderly residents were targeted by fraudsters posing as police officers.
The scammers contacted the victims by phone claiming to be from the police and convinced them to hand over large sums of cash.

The incidents involve someone claiming to be from the police and alerting people to suspicious activity on your card
They seem to know your details and also localise the conversation by naming local stores.
Please be aware the police will never ask for you to pass any bank details to them or ask you to withdraw money to be collected
If you are called by any of these fraudulent callers put the phone down and ring your bank straight away (if you have another phone to call from please use it as they often keep the line open)
Once you contact the bank please report via 101.
Banks will never ask you to give pin numbers on a call.
If you are contacted and you are suspicious via phone or email/messages please ignore and go to the original websites or emails you ordered from or would normally use.
