You're never to old to dance

A NEW dance project for older people is set to launch at Warrington – as part of the town’s first contemporary arts festival.
GRACE (Grow Respond Aspire Create Express) is being led by North West based dance company Co3 Dance, in partnership with the borough council’s Arts Team.
It will offer the opportunity for older people across the town to be part of a dance company designed specifically for them.
The GRACE project kicks off with an older people’s event held on National Older People’s Day on October 1 from 10.30am to 2.30pm at Pyramid Arts Centre.
There will be a free dance workshop, a performance by older people’s contemporary dance performance group “The Gods” (Growing Older Disgracefully) aimed at inspiring Warrington’s older people to dance.
Co3 Dance will then run three taster sessions throughout October on a drop in basis for local people to try it out, then weekly sessions (held over 10 weeks) will start on November 1. All sessions will be on Tuesday’s 1-3pm at the Pyramid Arts Centre.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This exciting project is especially designed for older people and gives them the chance to put their dancing shoes on! I am sure this initiative will be a great success and I hope lots of older people take this opportunity to get involved with it and have fun.”
