POLICE are investigating after a car and three houses were set alight in the same area of Warrington early today..
The blazes, in the Grasmere Avenue-Greenwood Avenue area of Orford came after an incident the previous night when a car fire spread to two other cars.
At least one of the cars is said to be a write-off and in one of the house fires early this morning three people had to be treated at the scene by paramedics after suffering the affects of smoke inhalation.
Ten kittens were also rescued from the house.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet in the most serious of the house fires and later used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the premises.
The other two house fires were out by the time fire crews reached the scene.
Police and fire service experts are investigating the incidents which, it is believed, are linked.
The car destroyed by fire early today had been damaged in the incident the previous night.
