WARRINGTON Rylands progressed into the quarter finals of the Liverpool Senior Cup beating Litherland Remyca 2-1 in a tricky second round tie at The Hive Arena.

Rylands controlled the game against hard working NWCFL opponents retaining possession well but struggled to break down a team content to put ten men behind the ball and frustrate their hosts.
Rylands were restricted to shooting from distance with Remyca goalkeeper Craion O’Loughlin pulling off several saves while Rylands debutant goalkeeper Lloyd Akiotu produced two good saves to keep out first half Remyca shots. Stepping up from the Under 17s team Akiotu also did well to tip an Elliott Taylor shot over the bar in the second half.
Rylands broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half, O’Loughlin saved a James Baillie shot but was beaten by Chineda Uche who followed up to net the rebound.

Rylands doubled their advantage five minutes later when Adam Sidibeh cut in from the right, powered his way between defenders to smash an angled drive into the far side of the net.
Rylands were forced to play out a nervy final five minutes after Remyca pulled a goal back. Akiotu kept out a Nathan Cornes free kick but was unable to hold the ball, Ollie Broe following up bundled the ball into the net.

RYLANDS – Akiotu, Thiam, Kyffin, Neild (Swaby-Neavin), Regan (Smith), German, Baillie (Piggott), Hough, Sidibeh, Touray, Uche. Subs not used Hardcastle, Pilling.
