TWO men are in custody after police responded to reports of armed men attempting to steal a motor vehicle in Warrington last night, Tuesday.
Officers from #ABlock response were called to a theft of a motor vehicle in progress. Arriving on scene within a few minutes they were informed that the offenders had driven off. After a hasty area search an officer stopped the vehicle where two males were promptly detained.
Both were located with a number of weapons to hand and were subsequently arrested for multiple offences. The weapons were seized and the van was also seized as it was used to commit a crime.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 11.30 pm on Tuesday 14 November police were called to reports of a number of men, possibly armed with weapons, attempting to break into a van on Rylands Drive, Warrington.
“While the caller was on the phone the men were seen leaving the area in a white van. Officers attended and the vehicle was stopped in Wilkinson Street.
“Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped for the theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a knife in a public place.
“The pair, aged 32 and 33 from Merseyside, both remain in custody at this time.”
