Man rescued from river

FIRE crews, police and the ambulance service were called to Bridge Foot, Warrington today when a man fell into the Mersey and became trapped in thick mud.
Firefighters from Warrington, Stockton Heath and Knutsford were involved in the rescue operation.
A rescue boat was launched and specialist equipment used to extricate the man. A hydraulic platform and a rope rescue unit were also called to the scene.
The man, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to Warrington Hospital.
He is not thought to have been seriously injured.
