Poppies return as volunteer spruces up Warrington Cenotaph ahead of Remembrance Day

LOCAL veterans campaigner Julie Francis has been busy again over the weekend sprucing up Warrington Cenotaph ahead of Remembrance Day.

Assisted by a local veteran 10 large poppies are back up and a new Union Flag has been erected.

Julie, who volunteers to help maintain the cenotaph, said: “Sadly my little helpers are poorly so a local Vet helped.
The two Tommy’s also have new poppies on their chests.”

“I’ve also suggested to Warrington Borough Council that they get people who are on community service to help clean the site regularly. It’s becoming mossy and dirty.”

“The flag I took down is going to a Veteran who arranges vet’s funerals in Cornwall.”
