THE Alzheimer’s Society is calling on Warrington residents to sign up for Memory Walk, the charity’s annual fundraising event which is set to take place in the town for the first time.
The one mile walk is taking place in Walton Hall Gardens on Sunday October 2 meeting at Walton Hall Gardens Heritage Centre.
The money raised will help fund vital services for people with dementia and their carers in your area.
Alzheimer’s Society Warrington supports people affected by all types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular dementia and Lewy-bodies.
The Society offers a range of services throughout Warrington, including dementia support services and local dementia cafes, which provide support in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Jackie Holbrook, Alzheimer’s Society Volunteer who is organising the Memory Walk in Warrington, said: “This is our first Warrington Memory Walk and we want as many local residents, of all ages, to sign up to what promises to be a very enjoyable day.”
A ‘Memory Wall’ at the event will give the walkers the opportunity to write down their personal memories – the reasons why they are walking or who they are walking for.
This year’s Memory Walk is taking place in partnership with Bupa. Together, Alzheimer’s Society and Bupa aim to support more people living with dementia through the vital funds that are raised.
Walkers can sign up to take part by visiting memorywalk.org.uk and selecting “North West, Warrington”.
