Council to protect care home residents

ELDERLY residents at a Warrington care home facing an uncertain future are to be found suitable new homes.
Warrington Borough Council’s adult social care team have stepped in to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the 15 residents at the Hollybush care home in Lovely Lane.
The council said today that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the council have had shared concerns about the Bewsey home for several months and have been working in partnership with the home owner and management team to address issues during that time.
Unfortunately sufficient progress has not been made to satisfy the council and officers are now identifying suitable new homes for the 15 residents who are currently living at the home on Lovely Lane.
This is being done in full consultation with residents and their families and carers.
Cllr Pat Wright, (pictured) the council’s executive member for health, wellbeing and adult services said: “Taking action to move vulnerable people is never a decision taken lightly but the provider has failed in their duty to provide the necessary standards of care elderly Warrington residents both deserve and are entitled to.”
Joe Blott, the council’s executive director of neighbourhood and community services said: “Our top priority at this time is to ensure that all residents in Hollybush are safe, secure and properly cared for. To that end we are working with the owner, staff, the CQC and families to ensure it can continue to provide care to current residents until new homes can be found.”
