UPDATED: An abnormal load has completed its journey across Warrington, with police thanking motorists for their patience following rolling road closures.

Rolling road closures were in place across Warrington from 9 a.m. this morning (Saturday) to allow the transportation of the abnormal load.

For safety reasons, it couldn’t be transported during the hours of darkness.

The Abnormal Load was being transported through Warrington from A57 Manchester Road to Junction 7 M62.

Local resident Geoff Kay was on hand to capture the occasion; He said: “This is the scene which I came across when I happened to be walking up to Woolston Library at 09:50.
“The transporter had emerged from Bridge Road and was being delicately turned, without grounding out, onto Old Manchester Road. Impressive sight, and expertly handled by the haulage crew.”

Meanwhile Cheshire Police have thanked local motorists for their patience.
The load has now completed its journey through Warrington and been handed over to Merseyside Police.
