Fire crew tackle barge fire at Lymm

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to reports of a barge fire on the Bridgewater Canal at Lymm.

The incident was reported at 17:42 yesterday, Thursday, on the Bridgewater Canal off Bridgewater Street.

One fire engine from Lymm attended a report of a fire on a canal barge in the village. The fire was caused by an overheating log burner on the boat.
Crews cut away areas surrounding the log burner to ensure there was no fire spread and then helped to ventilate the vessel.
