ONE of the main performance spaces at Warrington’s Pyramid Arts Centre has been re-named the Postlethwaite Studio in tribute to the late, great actor.
Members of the Postlethwaite family and leader of the borough council Terry O’Neill were among the guests at a special ceremony.
Local dancer Kate Jackson delivered the first performance in the newly renamed room on the night. She regularly uses it to rehearse for shows.
A portrait by photographer Jonathan Oakes of the actor in character as Prospero in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” now hangs in the room to inspire rehearsing artists.
Cllr O’Neill said: “This is an opportunity to honour Pete on behalf of the people of Warrington.”
Cllr Kate Hannon, the council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture said: “Pete Postlethwaite always made Warrington proud through his distinguished work and immeasurable talent. I am thrilled that we can pay tribute to him in this way.”
Pete was a patron of the Pyramid.
