Police issue warning after suspicious male reported going door-to-door selling paintings

POLICE have issued a warning following reports of a suspicious male going door-to-door in the Orford area of Warrington selling paintings.

Police received a report of the suspicious male going door to door selling paintings in the Buttermere Avenue area.  The male claimed to be vulnerable and told residents he was raising money for his daughter’s schooling.

Local officers are warning people to be on their guard for anyone selling items door to door. Often people will target areas where the vulnerable and elderly live and will try and guilt them into parting with money.

Their advice is to politely decline the sale and close and lock the door. Anyone concerned about a potential bogus caller ring the police on 101. Local officers will continue to patrol the area.
