Tennis club's summer camps

A VILLAGE tennis club has been buzzing with activity as children aged 5-16 enjoy summer “tennis camps.”
Between 9am and 1pm daily, coach James Oliver, a former county captain and nationally ranked players, has been keeping the youngsters amused at High Legh Tennis Club.
He said: “The children have really enjoyed the week, the morning schedule really suits both parents and children alike and results in some very tired children when they get home in the afternoon with all the running around they have done. The morning provides coaching, competition, and organised games culminating in an end of week prize ceremony which all the children really look forward to.
“We also have mini tennis camps running in the summer for children aged 4-8 which have proved a big hit too.
“I have been at the club since January and the junior membership is really booming.
“I feel the club has a lot to offer any junior wanting to get involved with weekly junior club nights, junior teams, a comprehensive clubmark accredited coaching programme and extra friendly matches arranged throughout the year all for a really affordable price starting at £35 per year.
“We don’t just cater for juniors, there is a comprehensive adult coaching programme, with adult teams in summer and winter leagues and monthly social nights which often involve food and drink and are a real social occasion.”
Year round tennis coaching is available for children aged three upwards, with different age specific classes running on a Wednesday afternoon, Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
Adults’ coaching is available on a Wednesday evening with three different classes catering for all standards. A copy of the latest coaching brochure at the club can be found at the club’s website www.highleghtennisclub.co.uk or email James on [email protected].
