Creamfields: where to get advice

0

PEOPLE who may be affected by the crowds, the noise or the traffic congestion caused by this weekend’s Creamfields festival can get information and advice from Warrington Borough Council.
The authority has created a special Creamfields page on its website offering advice to local residents who may be affected.
The address is www.warrington.gov.uk/home/news/news_2011/August/Creamfields_2011/
Meanwhile, police have set up a special phone line which residents can use to contact officers. The number is 01606 362639 and it is operation until 4am on Bank Holiday Monday. At other times, the normal 0845 458 0000 line can be used.
Police will use powers under Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act – known as the “Direction to Leave” power. The purpose of this power is to minimise the likelihood of alcohol-related crime or disorder taking place.
Officers can issue an individual with a direction to immediately leave a particular area for a period of up to 48 hours – if they feel there is a chance of alcohol-related crime or disorder taking place. If they then breach that direction to leave they will be arrested.
Organisers of the event have also set up a help line for local residents which will be operation over the weekend. This number is 0203 3289 886.
