A popular Warrington pub is set to close for a major refurbishment after being taken over by new owners.
The Thorn Inn at Appleton Thorn will close after Bank Holiday Monday, re-opening on September 18 following a major refurbishment by new owners the Chef & Brewer Pub Co.
New manager Jason Camilleri is keen to have feed back from local residents and regulars regarding the refurbishment and can be emailed at [email protected]
Explaining the proposed new look Jason said: “We are still going to be a traditional pub but with a restaurant with a better quality menu and seasonal specials.
“We will still be serving real ales but will have great new surroundings to do it in.”

  1. Modernising village pubs is their downfall. Pubs like the Thorn are popular for how they are and the fact that the history of the place is left alone. Very sad.

  2. I agree Silver Surfer. I hope they don’t change it too much and I certainly hope they don’t modernise it inside. The appeal of the Appleton Thorn has always been the lovely little oldie worldy rooms with lovely old features and items on display and of course the great friendly, homely feel and good food. I’m sure they will be sympatetic with it’s design and changes though as they seem to have a lot of traditional pubs elsewhere in the country.
