A WARRINGTON-based funeral home worker has become the Mayor of Whiston, Merseyside.
David Williams, 49, a driver/bearer for The Co-operative Funeralcare in Bewsey Road, was recently installed as the town’s first citizen.
After leaving school he worked as a chef in Liverpool and then in several management roles, before joining The Co-operative in November last year.
He was first appointed to Whiston Town Council in 2009 representing Whitestone Ward and was re-elected this year.
His manager, Ryan Modlin said: “I’d like to congratulate David on his appointment, it is a suitable reward for the dedicated service he has given to his community and is indicative of the commitment The Co-operative Funeralcare staff give to their local communities.”
