Great Sankey High School pupils visit career workshop

PUPILS from Warrington’s Great Sankey High school visited Amazon’s fulfilment centre in the town for tour and career workshop.

During the tour,the youngsters saw how Amazon stores, picks and packs products that are shipped from Warrington to customers around the UK.
They were also treated to a workshop showing the opportunities available to potential apprentices interested in working in engineering.
The workshop included a presentation was on health and safety in the workplace, the different types of preventative maintenance and the apprenticeships within Amazon.
Amazon in Warrington hopes to further its connection with Great Sankey High School by inviting more students from the school to the fulfilment centre to broaden their knowledge of different departments within the company.

General manager Radek Stegbauer, said: “At Amazon, we are passionate about the growth and development of young people and want to showcase the endless opportunities that are available to them. It was a pleasure to welcome students from Great Sankey High School to our fulfilment centre and chat to them about their career dreams – we hope that the pupils gained valuable information from our team.”
Joanne Lancaster, a member of the Amazon team in Warrington added: “The pupils at Great Sankey High School were very inquisitive and attentive during the workshop, and it was fantastic to be able to offer an insight into the wide range of opportunities available within the engineering field, particularly here at Amazon. We hope that they enjoyed themselves and benefited from the visit.”
