A FORMER Culcheth High School girl has died of a suspected Ecstasy overdose.
Serena Harding, aged 16, from Culcheth, was found unconscious on Reddish Vale Road, Reddish, Stockport. Paramedics attempted to revive her at the scene and later attempts at resuscitation were made at hospital. But she died – possibly as a result of a heart attack.
Tests are being carried out to try and establish what the girl had taken.
Five people have subsequently arrested on suspicion of drugs-related offences – four men aged 18, 19 and 20 and a 25-year-old woman. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A police spokesman said the cause of death had not yet been established but it was believed the girl may have taken drugs. He urged parents to warn their children of the dangers of experimenting with drugs.
According to one report, Serena, who wanted to become a fashion designer, had collapsed with breathing difficulties after taking a substance in a country park.
She was found by passers- by who dialled 999.
The police spokesman added: ‘I would urge parents to be aware of where their children are going and they must give their children a strong message about the dangers of drugs.”
