Road closure confirmed to allow detailed examination of railway bridge structure

A road will close overnight, October 1-2 to allow Network Rail to carry out a detailed examination of a railway bridge structure on Alder Root Lane, Warrington.

The closure will be from 9 pm to 6 am to minimise traffic disruption.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Alder Root Lane from its junction with Alder Lane to the borough boundary with St Helens.

The Order will be effective from 9 pm on 1st October 2023 to 6 am on Monday 2nd October 2023, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Alder Lane, Hollins Lane, Newton Road, Winwick Road, Mill Lane, Church Street, High Street, Crow Lane East and vice versa or via Alder Lane, Fir Tree Lane, Lumber Lane, Collins Green Lane, Penkford Lane, Pennington Lane, Common Road, Crow Lane West, Crow Lane East and vice versa. The closure is required to allow Network Rail to carry out a detailed examination of the bridge structure.
