A PUBLIC exhibition is to be held at Warrington tomorrow (Thursday) to outline proposals for improved flood defences in the Westy area of the town.
The display will be at St Margaret’s Community Centre, Lindley Avenue from 3pm until 8pm.
United Utilities are planning to build a flood embankment to reduce the risk of flooding from the Mersey for hundreds of homes in the area.
The scheme – involving a landscaped, grass embankment, would be designed so that access to existing riverside footpaths would be retained.
United Utilities say the embankment would cover an area of about 1,000 metres, starting from Kingsway Bridge and skirting the northern perimeter of Cardinal Newman RC High School and following the line of Mersey Walk.
