DETECTIVES investigating reports of a serious assault involving an alleged “stabbing” in Warrington are appealing for information and footage from members of the public.

At around 10.50pm on Tuesday 29 August, a member of the public was approached by a man on Manchester Road in Warrington. The man asked for help and stated that he had been stabbed.

The witness then saw a small group of men run towards the Manchester Road area from the direction of Sainsbury’s – causing the victim to flee in fear.
Police swiftly attended and following a search of the area, three men aged 20, 21, and 25, were arrested on suspicion of assault. They have since been released on conditional bail.
Following the incident, detectives have been unable to locate the victim in order to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Enquiries are currently underway, and detectives are urging the victim to get in touch, as well as anyone with any information or footage that may help the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Victoria Tait said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure members of the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident, and I hope that these arrests demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what happened, and I urge the victim, or anyone who knows who the victim may be, to please get in touch.
“Perhaps you witnessed the incident, or think you saw the victim before or after it occurred, or maybe you think you may know who he is.
“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area that night and think they may have captured the incident on dashcam footage.
“The same goes for anyone who thinks they may have CCTV footage.”
Anyone with information or footage that may be relevant to the ongoing investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 1632748, give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
