A SPITFIRE parked outside Warrington Market drew crowds of people who queued up to have their picture taken in the cockpit – including the Mayor, Mike Biggin.
It was one of the main attractions for celebrations of National Play Day which transformed the town centre.
Warrington Borough Council organised the day which also featured puppet shows, arts and crafts workshops, fairground rides, a fancy dress parade in aid of Warrington Disability Partnership and a helter-skelter from the 1930s.
Cllr Biggin said: “National Play Day recognises the importance of play and encouraging families to find time in their busy lives to play in the fresh air.
“It’s also a pretty fun day out for adults as well. The event was hugely popular and town centre was bustling with excited children all day.”
