Best in the North West

WARRINGTON’S Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is the best performing in the North West.
The National Treatment Agency records the number of successful completions in each area – that is the number of people who are discharged from the service as drug-free and no longer in need of treatment.
Judged by the three main indicators set by the agency, Warrington comes out on top.
The borough has the best rate of successful completions for opiate and crack users in the region – well over 10 per cent above the next best.
This is where it is agreed that someone is ready to leave the service, for example having completed the objectives in their recovery plan.
The DAAT, who work within the council’s neighbourhoods and communities directorate, also has the best rate of successful completions as a proportion of all people in treatment, and the least number of service users in treatment who have been there for more than four years.
Deputy leader of the council Mike Hannon (pictured) said: “This is a remarkable achievement and shows once again that Warrington’s drug and alcohol action team and Pathways to Recovery are top of their field. This work makes a real difference to individuals, families and the community. Well done to everyone involved.”
Pathways to Recovery is run in conjunction with CRI, one of the country’s leading drug and alcohol recovery charities. Comments from service users include:
*”When in treatment they do brilliant work at Pathway. Thank you.”
*”I have had good support, I didn’t see it at first but thankfully I see it now and I am very satisfied with the help I have received.”
