MEN over 50 in Warrington are being encouraged to get fit and meet new people at activities ranging from circuit training to bowling.
Warrington Borough Council and Age UK are organising the sessions.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “One of our aims is to increase the health and wellbeing of men over 50 years of age by engaging them into physical activity.
“These sessions are a great way to improve activity levels while at the same time meet new people in a social environment.”
Circuit Training runs at Winwick Road Fire Station on Thursdays 11am – 12pm. This is a gentle workout with a professional trainer who also offers advice on nutrition.
There are golf lessons on offer at Drive Time, Slutchers Lane, off Arpley Street, on Mondays from 7pm – 8pm.
Touch Rugby runs on Tuesday at 6.30pm at The Grange Sports and Social Club, Grange Avenue, Latchford.
For those who want to try aqua exercise there are sessions at Fordton Leisure Centre on Wednesdays from 3pm – 4pm.
Crown Green Bowling runs at Victoria Park Knutsford Road, on Thursdays from 1.30 pm – 3pm.
All activities are free of charge and anyone wanting to book should contact Age UK on 01925 639018 / 244645, or e-mail: [email protected]

  1. Good idea but 3 out of the 5 free activities are being held in the daytime so surely most men between the ages of 50 and 65 will be working. Are there similar free activities for ladies anywhere and if so can the minimim age be reduced by a 3 years 🙂
