WARRINGTON Rylands has announced that James Neild will be their captain for the 2023/24 season.

The versatile defender/midfielder joined Rylands in December 2021 from Trafford and has since made 61 appearances for the Gorsey Lane club scoring two goals.

On his appointment he said “I am really happy to be honoured to be captain, it really shows the trust and belief the gaffer and his team has in me, which fills me with confidence. I am hoping to lead by example and push for promotion this year.”
Neild first’s game as captain saw Warrington Rylands ease to a comfortable 3-0 home win on Saturday against Alvechurch in a pre-season friendly.
A closely contested game was decided in a three minute spell mid-way through the first half when Adama Sidibeh tore the right side of the Southern League Premier Central Division side’s to shreds to set up two well taken goals for Joe Piggott.
Sidibeh completed the scoring on the stroke of half time rising highest to head home from a Ben Hough corner.
Remaining pre-season games before the big kick off on 12th August are:
Tuesday 1st August home v Bolton Wanderers B 7.30pm
Saturday 5th August home v Manchester Gregorians 3pm
