GIRL Guides from Culcheth, Warrington “took over” part of Culcheth Linear Park to celebrate the centenary of Girlguiding – and present a veteran Girlguider with an award.
A heron carving was unveiled to mark the occasion.
More than 150 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members were present, along with their Leaders and members of the Trefoil Guild.
The girls were also joined by County Commissioner Cat Skinner and regional Chief Commissioner Sue Lomas, who presented a Chief Commissioners Award to Barbara Smith, in recognition of more than 30 years service to Girlguiding in Culcheth.
During the evening the Guides made bird feeders for the Linear Park feeding station while the Rainbows and Brownies enjoyed games and crafts.
After hotdogs the evening was completed by traditional campfire singing.
The evening was made all the more special for the girls by a visit from a very friendly hedgehog – courtesy of the Friends of Linear Park.
Anyone who would like to volunteer with Girlguiding UK, or to put their daughter’s name on the waiting list for any of the sections should contact Sara Isles, District Commissioner, by emailing [email protected]
