Wolves celebrate A Grade success

WARRINGTON Wolves are delighted to have retained their A-grade licence status meaning they can compete in Super League 2012, 2013, and 2014.
But Welsh outfit Crusaders will not be competing after withdrawing their franchise application.
Warrington’s Super League application was submitted in March this year and covered all sectors of the club’s business including: commercial, marketing and community; stadium facilities; finance; governance and business management; together with playing strength and player performance.
Warrington will be joined for this next licence period of Super League by: Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Catalan Dragons, Harlequins RL, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos, Salford City Reds, St Helens, Wakefield Wildcats, Widnes Vikings and Wigan Warriors.
The Wolves are once again delighted to see Widnes make the grade bringing back their local derby matches with the Vikings.
Andy Gatcliffe, club chief executive, (pictured right) said: “Here at Warrington we have a state-of-the-art template stadium and a club at the heart of its community. We are constantly striving to move forward both on and off the pitch proven by our recent on-field success and stadium expansion plans already in place.
“All associated with the club, from staff to supporters, are delighted to have been awarded a licence. This is reward for the hard work put in and loyal support shown in making this club the success it is today. We are already looking forward to our derby games with Widnes Vikings and continuing to have ‘sold-out’ games, as well as hosting other major Rugby League events here at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.”
Meanwhile fears that one of the traditional rugby league heartlands like Wakefield may have lost their Super League franchise were allayed when cash strapped Crusaders, currently based in Wrexham, withdrew their application.
