PLANNERS have refused an application to build a log cabin in the rear garden of a property at Great Sankey, Warrington.
The proposal was for the construction of a 7.0m x 3.0m log cabin at the property Woodale Close, Great Sankey, Warrington, on the site of a modern detached residential dwelling that benefits from a two-storey rear extension.
The outbuilding within the curtilage of the dwelling house would provide a garden type room, a shed and an open area enclosed with a back wall and covered by the main roof.
The proposal would be timber built with a hipped roof. There were no objections from neighbours or ward councillors.
But under delegated powers Warrington Borough Council planners refused the application for the following reasons:- the building exceeds 2.5 metres in height and insufficient information has been provided to demonstate that the proposed outbuilding would be located more than 2m from the boundary; the building incorporates a verandah. On this basis the proposed development would NOT be lawful.
