Temporary clubhouse proposed for new tennis courts

PLANS have been submitted for a temporary tennis clubhouse at Lymm Rugby Club – alongside new all-weather tennis courts that have been built at the club.

The clubhouse has already been installed and the application is for it to be retained for up to three years until a new multi-sport clubhouse can be provided,
Planning consent for the multi-sport clubhouse was granted in 2016 as part of a wider re-development of the rugby club facilities which will enable the nearby Manor Road Tennis Club – now a section of the rugby club – to relocate to the rugby club site.

The new tennis courts are open from 8am till 10pm and will be used by both members of the tennis club and members of the public through a “pay and play” scheme. The courts will also be used, particularly in the school holidays, for tennis coaching camps and county tennis.
The temporary club room will provide essenial accommodation to support the newly installed tennis courts in advance of construction of the main multi-sport clubhouse. The temporary room includes a WC and small social area.
Warrington Borough Council planning officers are currently considering the application.
