RAIN virtually wiped out all cricket involving Warrington area teams – with only one match being played.
Lymm Oughtrington Park managed to play their Cheshire Cricket League game away at Middlewich, but suffered a heavy defeat.
The home side batted first and hit 165, Sam Parkinson taking 3-45. Lymm were then tumbled out for a mere 56 in just 27 overs.
In the Cheshire County League premier division, Grappenhall’s game with fellow strugglers Brooklands was washed out – a particular disappointment as it robbed Grappers of the chance of a much-needed win to lift them out of the relegation zone.
On Sunday, Appleton’s women’s team managed to play their Cheshire Women’s League game at Nantwich but suffered a heavy defeat.
The home side hit 141-4 but then Appleton were bowled out for 58 with only Emma Barlow, 16 and Amy Seddon, 11, reaching double figures
