Firms offer apprenticeships

2

MORE than 20 Warrington businesses pledged to offer apprenticeships when they attended a special event in the town.
Businesses from all over Warrington attended the day, where they heard from employers who were already gaining the benefits from employing apprentices.
Leader of Warrington Borough Council Terry O’Neill said: “It was wonderful to see so many businesses coming together to find out how they can support the young people of Warrington.
“Apprenticeships can add real value to businesses, especially at this time of economic constraints. They provide the opportunity for young people to access a meaningful career and give employers access to a wealth of talent.”
Employers interested in finding out more about apprenticeships should contact Gill Sunderland, 14-19 partnership officer, Warrington Borough Council, telephone 01925 443184.

  2. Would they have employed them anyway, businesses only take people on if they need them. The term apprenticeshipo has a very different meaning to some older folk, where an apprenticeship was a five year training course, that produced some of the mostly highly skilled people in the world. The modern crop will not have those skills, ever. Interesting to note that by far the current headline with the most comments is the one about saving a dog from the canal, on the subject of which, can’t all dogs naturally swim, and eventually it would have found its way out of the canal.
