Police launch appeal for witnesses after bottle thrown at woman during assault

OFFICERS are appealing for information and witnesses after a bottle was thrown at a woman following an assault in Stockton Heath, Warrington, last Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 7pm on Saturday 15 July, outside of an address on London Road, Stockton Heath.
During the incident, a 31-year-old woman was physically assaulted by a man who also threw a glass bottle at her.
The offender also punched a member of the public who intervened during the initial assault.
No major injuries were sustained.

A 37-year-old man from Warrington has since been arrested on suspicion of section 39 assault in connection with the incident; he has since been released on bail.
Police Constable Kieran McGregor of the Area Investigations Team, said: “Enquires in relation to this incident are ongoing and we are doing all we can to establish what took place.
“There were a number of people in the area at the time who will have witnessed the incident and I would urge them to come forward so we can fully understand the circumstances of what took place.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident, but has not yet spoken to police, to contact us on 101.”
